Making the Rounds

Making artwork has a spiral pattern that becomes evident over time. You start by making something. It evolves, you go on to make other things and then eventually you return to your first efforts armed with all the skill garnered from various activities. It informs you work and your 2nd , 3rd etc passes on work bring new inspiration and dimension.

I have been using japanese tissues in my art work for a number of years. I start with a tissue collage and then paint on top.

Over time this approach has a undergone a multitude of manifestations.

I segued into hand painted cards. I lay a block of tissue on a card and paint on top. When I am done, I add a washi tape border.

From here I started painting brown paper pages. I lay japanese tissues on the bag , then paint and finish with washi tape.

At last I have come full circle. I am currently laying tissues over large canvases and painting on top of that . And yes I sometimes choose to seal the edges of the canvas with .......washi tape.

Long live the wheel.....
